Snow in April

Is it hard to imagine having snow in April?  If you live in Minnesota , it is not an uncommon phenomenon.  These are some pictures that I took this morning from our house.  The view is our backyard.

Did I tell you that we live in woods and with all kinds of animals?  If you are interested to learn the different kinds of animals we live with, read this article. http://elisaenglish.pixnet.net/blog/post/639394   By the way, we do live in the metropolitan area, not a farm area or a remote mountain area.  To tell you the truth, there are no mountains in Minnesota.

By the way, you can probably see that our screen door was damaged.

Do you know who was the culprit behind this crime?  It was the pheasant that lives on our deck.  Can you see the footprints?  Somehow he decided to camp on our deck about a month ago.  I don’t know why.  However, I am starting to see this as a trend.  Animals are starting to camp in or near our house.  Take the chipmunk for instance, he has been living in our garage for over a year.  We have tried every method to rid off him but in vain.  We also have racoons living on our roof.  And now the pheasant on our deck.  Someday, I will manage to take a picture of him to show you.  He is gorgeous like a peacock with fabulous feathers.  However, he is very alert and will fly away the instant he hears the noise.  So up till today, I haven’t gotten any luck of taking a picture of him.

If you come to visit us and hear someone knocking on our deck, don't be alarmed.  It is just the pheasant.

  • Hi, Elisa, thank you for the specific explanations.  It is very nice to make sure that I didn't misunderstand the concept of metaphor even though I might fail for the result of vote number 3 vs. 5    Actually, I have a preference for simile, but most people don't appreciate poetic writing at all.
  • I don't know why people would still vote for the other answerer after I made the comment that her examples were about simile and not metaphor.  It is also bizarre that the asker voted for the wrong answer too after she specifically stating that she wants examples about metaphor and not simile.
Anyway, there are just too many wrong answers out there in Yahoo Knowledge.  The way I was told to correct this type of situation is to write a critique about it.  The other way I can do is to ask Yahoo Management to remove the wrong answer.  However, the question will be removed along with it.  I think that is because the question can no longer exist when there is not an answer.
    Good luck!

  • Hi,
This is my first time reading your blog, and I have to say, "It's awesome!!"
    I
live in Vancouver, and it was snowing just last week as well.
The weather this year is very bizarre. We rarely snow in winter let alone spring.

Anyway, I just want to compliment your blog. I hope someday I can have such a successful blog
    like
    yours!

    Cheers,
    Ariel
  • Wow!  That is uncommon in Vancouver.  It is not uncommon to have snow in April in Minnesota.  In fact, it will be bizarre if it does not snow in April.  I am used to the snow and the winter.  I am still waking up at around 20-degree Fahrenheit each day.
Thanks for your compliments on my blog.

  • Hi, Elisa,
