Something out of Nothing - A Poem by Elisa English

Can we make something out of nothing?

What is nothing?

Is nothing truly nothing?

Are things that we can’t see deemed as nothing?

We’ve been hearing

There is God

Before there is anything

All things came into being

Through God

From nothing

Is abiogenesis a possibility

as claimed by many.

How could nonlife

evolve into life?

When did it all germinate

Where there was blankness

And complete darkness

Where did life originate?

Was it a creation of God regardless?

It is all a mystery to me nevertheless.
