A Month into Summer Break

It is almost a month into our summer break with two months of summer break left.  As always, I will spend less time on writing or logging into my blog and spend more time with my kids.  This year, we are doing something a little bit different for our kids.  Instead of enrolling them in the summer care for the entire summer, my husband and I have been taking a week off from work to drive our kids to the summer camp location, so they can take advantage of the summer camps.  Our kids have attended the one-week-long Lego Robotics program and have just finished the one-week-long Camp Invention.  The Lego Robotics program was only about 3 hours a day, so we spent the afternoon playing sand in the beach, riding bikes in the park and venturing to the library.  My kids really enjoyed attending Camp Invention and had asked to attend it next year again.  As full-time working parents, we do not have the luxury to take too much time off in the summer to drive our kids to the camps as it will cut into our ability to take family vacation.  Our kids are now back to the regular summer care.  We will be taking a family vacation in August.  In late August, our kids will attend a Science camp.  I hope that they will enjoy the Science Camp as they did with Camp Invention.  Next year, I am planning to look up information around Music camp.  It might help boost my daughter's interest in playing violin. 

Hi, I am back from vacation.  I have been in Taiwan for almost a month.  The trip was pleasant but some of the phenomenon we saw was quite disturbing especially in the younger generation around the age of 18 and 40, which makes us question if we should shorten our visits in the future.  I am still contemplating if I should write about what we saw.  Anyway, we were able to visit Alishan while we were there this time.  We have been discouraged by our family members to pay a visit to the place in the past because of the notorious Chinese tourists.  We were lucky that there were no Chinese tourists there this time until we got off the mountain.  It was great to get away from the heat for a few days.  We love the tea and the tea owner of 阿里山日出商店 (嘉義縣阿里山鄉中正村32號).  I will write about our stay in Taiwan when I have time.  I am still trying to recover from the jet lag and stay awake at work.  So if you don't hear from me, it is because I am still feeling fatigued from the trip. 

By the way, the majority of our stay was at Le Meridian Taipei (台北寒舍艾美酒店 http://www.lemeridien-taipei.com/) in the center of Taipei Singyi District where Shin Kong Misukoshi and Taipei 101 are located.  The amenities of the hotel are great.  I would recommend staying at this hotel if you plan to visit Taipei.

As summer approaches, I will become extremely busy, taking vacations, working on project implementation or engaging in outdoor activities.  If you have any question for me, expect longer than usual time from me to respond.  I will always get back to you, but don't be surprised if it takes me more than 20 days to get back to you.

Now, I am really mad.  It was a coincidence that I found someone posting some of my poem translations on his blog without my permission.  At a social networking site, he asked to be my friend.  Out of curiosity, I checked out his blog entries and found out that he had posted my poem translations without my permission and taking credit for my work.  All my articles are copyrighted.  I would like to state for the last time.  Please do not copy and paste any of my articles.  Please remove all my articles from any of your blog.  If you trully like my articles and want to share with everyone, please just provide link to my blog.  My blog address is http://elisaenglish.pixnet.net/blog.  I will take legal actions if necessary.

I will be out on vacation for a week.  I will respond to your request/question when I am back end of next week.  This is not an April Fool's joke.  When I have time, I may write about my ski trip.  See you!

If you live in the US, you should be receiving 2010 US Census Form shortly.  As an advocate for our TAAMN (Taiwanese American Association in Minnesota), I would like to urge you to write down “TAIWANESE” in item #9 on the 2010 US Census form.

I am in the process of consolidating my blogs, so in the next few days, you will see articles relating to translations showing up on this blog.  I usually post translations of long articles on the other blog.  However, it is getting harder to manage blogs on similar subjects.  

My Writing Style

You might have noticed that I use more of a colloquial style when writing journals.  They were not written with traditional grammar in mind.  With book review, I tend to use more complicated sentences as a way to show you the different styles of writing.  As for topics on grammar, I usually pay more attention on the sentence structure and words I use to follow more strict grammar rules.
