Are you happy? - A poem by Elisa English
Are you happy?
I often wonder.
A free spirit confined,
you must be sad.
I cannot tell.
I am, as always,
bad at reading emotions,
especially your poker face
Day after day,
we see you change
to conform to our lifestyle
submissively, without complaints.
Bit by bit,
something inside you,
precious and exquisite,
withers away along the way
Though you speak no word,
your actions speak louder
By the door you stand
at every opportunity you get
I am beginning to doubt
as I look into your eyes.
How can we give you the best
of the two worlds?
