An Olympian in the Making

This is actually not a story about an Olympian but rather some trivial about my son.  If you have been reading my blog, you will know that my son took some ski lessons last winter.  This winter, he is enrolled in the snowboarding class.

Last Saturday the kids in the ski/snowboarding class stayed out riding all day and even rode a black diamond run  (see link for image of a black diamond run http://www.virtualtahoe.com/SkiTahoe/Art/OnTheSlopes/1Lg.jpg).  That was really impressive.  By the way, my son won the contest the 2nd time around (last week and the week before) for completing the most traverses.  He has now advanced to the intermediate level in just 3 lessons.

The kids are now working on perfecting a solid snowboard stance and using just the lower body to steer the board to move on to the next level.  They will work on how to safely ride jumps and boxes on their next trip.
