** Updated 12/11/09:

If you have been faithfully reading my articles, you probably have come across an article that I wrote in rage, stating that I am ashamed to be associated with any so-called Taiwanese (who do not truly identify themselves as Taiwanese but in camouflage disguise themselves as one), eager to comprise any Taiwanese human rights, afraid to intimidate the Communist China, looking out for their own short-term interest, or just plain dreaming to unite with China and be part of a Communist Chinese.  I am proud to be a Taiwanese.  Whenever people ask if I am a Chinese, my answer would always be “NO, I am a TAIWANESE”.  To me, Taiwan is not and has never been part of the Communist China.  I am sad that some Taiwanese had elected Ma to be the Taiwanese President when he never admits to be or once in his action acts like a Taiwanese President because he never thinks of Taiwan as a country.

To me, it is mind-boggling to figure out what some Taiwanese think when they took the action to elect Ma as Taiwanese President and to grant the majority seats to KMT.  All these seemed to signal that over 50% of the Taiwanese population wanted Taiwan to be a province of the Communist China and be ruled under Communism.  It also sent out the message that over 50% of the Taiwanese population did not care about human rights or religious freedom.  They would rather live demeaningly under the ruling of the Communist China than fight for human rights and dignity.  You have probably heard me say “Ignorance is what brings disaster to mankind.” (That is my quote. J See my article “About Attitude” - http://elisaenglish.pixnet.net/blog/post/639489).  Being a stander-by actually helps spreading the harm created by the devil.  I want to bring up the quote from Martin Niemoller again.  This is no laughing matter.

“When the Nazis came for the communists, I said nothing; I was, of course, no communist.
When they locked up the Social Democrats, I said nothing; I was, of course, no Social Democrat.
When they came for the trade unionists, I said nothing; I was, of course, no trade unionist.
When they came for me, there was no one left who could protest.”

The reason that I brought up that quote is the impact that all of us can make if possessing the right attitude.  Don’t let your precious freedom slip away by allowing the devil to maintain his ruling position.

I recently read an article around the statistics on Taiwan’s independence or unification opinion polls (see http://tktw.blogspot.com/2009/10/statistics-on-taiwans-independence-or.html ).  It sounded like that only roughly 9.6% of the entire Taiwanese population wants unification.  If that is the case, electing a pro-unification candidate as Taiwanese president is sending the wrong message to the whole wide world about your true intention and allowing Ma to aggressively and quickly push Taiwan towards unification with the Communist China.  If, in reality, more than 90% of the Taiwanese population does not want unification with China, show it in your 2012 presidential election.  Don’t elect any (pro-unification) candidate backed by KMT.  TAIWANESE DO NOT WANT UNIFICATION WITH THE COMMUNIST CHINA.  There is no unification to begin with as Taiwan is not and has never been part of the Communist China.  For the Taiwanese who are dreaming of maintaining a status quo, there is no such thing as status quo.  The Communist China will never allow the Taiwanese to stay a citizen of an unrecognized nation, or even a phantom nation.

What worries me the most is the Communist China’s strategy to control Taiwan’s politics and economy by inpouring Taiwan with Communist Chinese as they did with Tibet and Xinjiang, and increasing China’s buyout of Taiwan’s media and businesses.   Time is running out.  You don’t have the luxury of a second time and you cannot afford any mistake.  You need to stand up and fight for yourselves if you don’t want to be treated as second citizens, as heard of animals and or as something even worse.  You are the master of your own destiny.

As stated by Coen Blaauw, the executive director of Formosa Affairs Public Relations, “Congressman Peter Deutsch from Florida always says, no matter how many times China says Taiwan is part of China, that doesn’t make it part of China. So, we have to stand up, stand up for Taiwan!”

I have a story to tell you.  Before I got pregnant, we used to ride the bus to work.  There was a Chinese who also rode that bus.  One day, while we were having lunch at a Food Court, he approached us and asked if we were Chinese.  We told him that we were Taiwanese.  He quickly labelled us as the same group of people as him and stated “Oh, we are all Chinese”.  He went on asking where we worked.  My husband said that he worked in a transportation firm.  That Chinese responded with “That must be a lucrative position.  How can I get hired in that field?”  The entire conversation he had with us surrounded only on the subject of money.  How he could get more money?  Which area should he get into to earn more money?  What could help him to get more money?  All that he was looking for was money.  He didn’t care that we were strangers and that we didn’t know him at all.  He didn’t care that we stated that we weren’t Chinese but Taiwanese.  He didn’t care about our lukewarm attitude and that we weren't interested in the topic.  All he cared about was money.  He was not the only Chinese we encountered who placed money above everything and who eyed only money and all things material.  They are such hypocrite to denounce capitalism and anything Americanized but at the same time hunting for money at their every waking moment.  They live comfortably in America but they are anti- Americans.  They keep praising how good China is but they keep clinging on America, the country they so despise and viciously attack against, either physically or verbally.  If China is that good, why not returning back to China?  Why tried all methods possible to stay in America even illegally and refuse to leave?  That goes the same to those Chinese in Taiwan.  If China is that good, why not returning back to China, a country you so adore and fantasize?  What is the point of clinging to TAIWAN, a COUNTRY you don’t recognize at all?

Not all Chinese are like the person I stated in my story, but I am sad to say that I have seen enough for the recent years to have such bad impression about them.  I have to admit that I have bias all the time.  However, bias goes away when you are exposed to the group more.  I used to have bias against the Indians due to limited exposure to that group of people, thinking that they are always out there to take credit away from you.  When I interned at Corestates in the summer, I met an Indian who gave me that impression because he was always asking about my projects and wanted to be part of them.  However, with the influx Indians in the workplace, I learn that they are a group of intelligent people and very easy to work with.  I actually enjoy working with them.  My impression of the Indians totally changed for the past few years.  However, I am sad to say that my impression about the Chinese worsens years after years.  Maybe most of the bad sheep live in Minnesota and in America.  Who knows!

Oh, I just read this news: 留韓台女亮國旗險遭毆, so the Chinese barbarians don't all live in the US

Oh, if you live in the United States, don't forget about the upcoming census 2010 .  Please remember to write down your race as Other Asian:  Taiwanese.

美國十年一次的人口普查即將在2010年開跑,這是台美人爭取自己權益的最好機會,記得一定要填表,並且寫下自己的族裔是「TAIWANESE」。
