Pierian Spring

靈感

A source of inspiration

In Greek mythology, Pierian Spring, in the shadow of Mount Olympus, the mountain of Muses in ancient Macedonia, was the metaphorical source of knowledge which gave inspiration to whomever drank from it.

The word “Pierian spring” was used in Alexander Pope’s An Essay on Criticism:

"A little learning is a dangerous thing;
drink deep, or taste not the Pierian spring:
there shallow draughts intoxicate the brain,

and drinking largely sobers us again."

A lot of time, we came across writer’s block and wondered where our Muse were and where we could find that Pierian Spring and take a sip of it. For me, my readers are my Muse.
